Digital Learning will continue for the remainder of the year...

I'm sure by now you have all heard the sad news that we won't be meeting together as a class in the building this year. I can't express how sad this makes me to think that I won't get to see my students faces and experience the end of a wonderful year and the fun we would have together.

I worry like you, that students learn all they need to before the end of the school year. I want them to be fully prepared for fourth grade and I believe, as a team, we can do this. We have truly become partners in educating your child! To help with this I have created list of the standards that I would cover during fourth quarter if we were meeting every day. I am attaching that document to this email entitled 4th Quarter Standards and will download it into the OneNote book as well. Please do NOT be overwhelmed by it but instead use it as a guide when your child is selecting reading material on Epic, Cobb Digital Library, and any ebooks they might be reading from the public library. Many of the standards are combined in the homework I assign every week, and I will be working very hard to find digital content that students can watch, read, and interact with to learn these standards. After spring break, I will continue to load content into the OneNote platform each week.

I have many questions about grades, report cards, your child's belongings etc. as I'm sure you do. I am having virtual meetings with my administrators and third grade team and will get those answers to you as they are provided to me. It may take a while for the district to determine how all of this will be done as this is a new and unprecedented experience for all of us.

You have been wonderfully supportive and kind to me this school year. I appreciate your patience and certainly feel your frustration with digital learning. Please know together, I believe we can find a successful way through.

Although I am not allowed to assign any work next week, I will send out an invitation for a Zoom call for next Tuesday at 9:30 again so anyone who wants to chat is welcome! Enjoy next week if possible. Please let your child know how much I miss them.
